Brand Loyalty

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it pretty much describes why I just love certain brands and products. If they work for me I just keep using them. This dawned on me when I went to get more of our body wash. Jackson and I went to Drug Emporium to pick up another bottle of Dr. Teal’s Lemon body wash. We have been using Dr. Teal’s for years but the lemon scent was new and we just loved it. I had gotten our last two there and was sorely disappointed when the body wash shelf was extremely empty. We went to Walmart to see if they had it there. No luck, so we just picked up the magnesium one. A week later I was a Drug Emporium and just decided to see if it was back in stock and it was.

Another brand that I have used for years and will continue to use is Mad Hippie. It’s such a good skincare line and very reasonably priced.

I have been using Zum products for over a decade. I love the laundry soap and am so happy several places here carry it.

This is my go to scent although I have tried the patchouli and I really like that one also. The body mist/room sprays are amazing.

I mainly use these in the hotter months because they act as an allover frangrance.

The only “perfume” that I use is this. I’m over the moon that Sprouts carries it and I don’t have to order it anymore.

I don’t like flowery scents. I really like more of the earthy spicy scents. This oil goes with the hair mist/body spray that I found at Dollar Tree. I’m always hesitant to buy beauty products there, but I scanned it through Yuka and it got a very good rating.

This leave in conditioner, also from Dollar Tree is so good. It’s not heavy and I normally just spray it on my ends after a shower.

I love lotion and actually go through it pretty quickly. These are my favorites that I use.

The Patchouli Buritti and the Raw Shea Butter are both so thick that they have to be stored upside down. Of course, I will always have the Zum on hand. Eos lip balm is the only lip balm I use and I love it. With the heater being run now my lips can dry out at night if I don’t apply it before bed.

I find it funny that I worked for Lancome for several years yet this is my go to makeup that I will continue to always buy.

I’ve used the same color eyeshadow for years and years. Maybelline fit (dewy) is wonderful and I love the fit powder. I have used the wet ‘n wild eyeliner and Big Poppa mascara also for years. Same with the covergirl blush. It just makes it easy to know what I like and I can just run into the store and not have to think or guess if it will work.

As far as hair products go, I love this heat protector spray. I rarely actually put heat on my hair, but when I do, this one is great. It’s not heavy and doesn’t make your hair feel heavy or greasy.

After I dropped the kids off I had about an hour and a half to kill in Kilgore. I decided to drop by Goodwill just to look around. I found two cute tshirts that were red tags (half off color) and a olive green cardigan.

I love oversized cardigans. I thought the one I already had was olive green but it turns out it is brown with a green tint so I’m really happy I found this one.

I also picked up 3 gluten free cookbooks. I know I can probably find all the recipes online, but I just would rather work out of a cookbook.

For 99 cents each, I couldn’t beat it.

Also, I don’t just buy myself things. I just never post what I get everyone else because I feel like it’s an invasion of their privacy in some weird way.

Project Pan – Skin Care

Project Pam is where you use up what you have before you purchase anything else. I recently went through my skin care to take inventory of what I have, what I use and what I need to throw away. I found that I had several samples that I wanted to use up.

Most of these were half full so I’ve been using them up before I use my normal skin care.

These are what I use as a daytime moisturizer. I really like the Hempz oil. It only takes a little bit and really hydrates my skin. I have a backup of this so it’s going to last for a while. The bee venom cream is also good. I don’t know if I would buy the bee venom again. I like it, but I think there are probably better products out there.

I love all three of these serums. I’ve used Mad Hippie for years and they are cruelty free and plant based. I will definitely purchase all three of these again. I layer them under my moisturizer.

Again, I love all of these products and will repurchase them. The cleansing oil is so good at removing makeup. The triple C night cream leaves my skin feeling so soft. The microdermabrasion treatment is something I only use twice a week so it lasts a long time. As you can tell I love the Mad Hippie line of skin care.

Hannah has sensitive skin and we have found that this keeps her skin clear of breakouts but doesn’t strip it. I have been using it also and really like it. So we will be repurchasing this when it runs out.

I guess I don’t really have a problem with buying extra skin care because I tend to be brand loyal. If it works for me I’ll just keep using it. Even after using the more expensive mini sizes that I have I still stick by my Mad Hippie as the best skin care for me.

Gone With the Wind

The day of the eclipse we were supposed to be getting rain. A lot of rain. Luckily the clouds cleared for the eclipse. We were in the 99% totality area. It got dark enough to where the street light came on and the solar lights lit up.

Everything was going well until that evening when the storm hit us. It was bad. The wind was just awful. When we woke up the next morning we had lost power and it was still storming. The patio was taking on water which meant our laundry room was too. When there was a break I went out to see how bad everything was.

Our little gnome drowned. The wind and water had flipped all of our landscape timbers.

We had a stream running from the backyard into the front ditch that was already overflowing. But the very worst thing that happened was this

Our poor greenhouse was demolished. I thought we might be able to save it, but when everything cleared up yesterday and we went out to survey the damage, several poles had snapped. Donny had so many plants that he had painstakingly been taking care of. We moved most of them to the side garden, but it was just so heartbreaking. Hopefully he’ll be able to save most of them. We just don’t know yet.

The power was still out Tuesday, but luckily the storm had brought cooler weather. I’m thankful for our gas stove because I was still able to make breakfast.

And coffee, thank goodness

Since it was so dark outside because of the rain, I decided that I would just lay in bed and read. Bailey had other ideas though.

Yesterday and today have been absolutely gorgeous. We were finally able to get back to Kilgore to see if they still had the dress that Hannah had decided HAD to be her prom dress. She gets very overwhelmed when shopping so we lucked out and got the dress, shoes and jewelry at Everything that Blings, her favorite boutique.

Since I can’t post the dress yet, I can post a picture of her shoes since they won’t really show in the actual prom pictures. It’s so hard to find closed toe heels that she likes. (she does not like sandals) I happened to walk back to a corner of the store and found the perfect ones. They were the only pair and just happened to be in her size.

Prom is in one week and lately weeks have been flying by. Tomorrow we are going to practice hairstyles. Wish me luck!
